Tax Assessor Clerk Full Time (37.5 hours) |
Hours:
8:30 am - 4:30 pm | Monday through Friday |

Position Summary Under the direction of the Tax Assessor, the Tax Assessor Clerk supports the daily operations of the Tax Assessor's Office to include the evaluation and determining of value of real estate property. This is a small, close-knit office of two, located in the Municipal Building, where you'll work directly with the Tax Assessor and gain hands-on exposure to property assessment and municipal recordkeeping. The position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to foster positive working relationships with residents and coworkers. Examples of Duties Preparing correspondence, reports, and forms related to property assessments Reviewing and processing abatement and exemption applications, including senior citizen and veteran deductions Updating deed, sale, and ownership information in property records and assessment systems Maintaining and organizing property records and files Assisting residents with general assessment-related questions and referring more complex inquiries to the Tax Assessor Supporting the office with other general clerical functions Performs related duties as required to support Department operations Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED At least one (1) year of work experience in a property-related field, such as real estate, banking, insurance, title services, or property management, is preferred Demonstrated keyboarding/typing proficiency; a qualifying typing test may be administered Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn assessment record-keeping software
