As a member of our team, you will manage and provide professional level architecture and engineering related project oversight for a variety of building construction, park construction and renovation projects. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources. Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process. Some positions may be confidential positions and are excluded from membership in the union. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, project construction management, or a related field AND 3 years of full-time experience in building or parks design. One (1) year of project or construction management experience is also required and may or may not be concurrent to the three (3) years of required building or parks design experience. Additional full time building or park design experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Licensing and Certification:
Possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.
Background Investigation:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination:
Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Confers with County staff regarding physical facility project requirements, including space criteria, health and safety considerations, employee and public circulation, aesthetic considerations, costs estimates and related matters. Manages the various levels of the design process; develops construction design standards; makes recommendations for revisions and/or additions/deletions as necessary. Reviews work of contractors, consultants and staff. Reviews and approves project schedules, schedule of values, change orders, payment requisitions and tracks and document project costs. Reviews and examines plans, job specifications and related documents; assure that contracted work is in compliance with approved schedules, contract requirements, codes, ordinances and regulations, permits and County plans, specifications and standards. Administers contracts with and confers with architects, engineers and construction contractors; schedules projects; provides technical oversight, inspects and reviews work in progress. Conducts pre-bid/construction conferences and project progress meetings. Confers with developers, engineers, architects, contractors, property owners and others to explain codes, regulations and procedures. Provides project management from conception to completion on building and park construction or renovation projects. Reviews field conditions as they relate to project documents; recommend solutions. Monitors developments in the construction field. Identifies needed changes to construction plans and details; evaluates alternatives and makes effective recommendations. Maintains liaison with other County departments; client staff, contractors; vendors; various outside agencies, including utility, governmental agency and County departmental staff. Directs the maintenance of and maintains accurate records and files and prepares a variety of periodic and special reports and correspondence. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Confers with facilities maintenance staff and recommends solutions to building design, maintenance and operational problems. May assist in preparing litigation documentation and testify in court as an expert witness. Works with property owners to obtain easements, other cooperative agreements, and to resolve problems. Develops, implements and interprets policies and procedures related to area of assignment. Drives a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and visit various County work sites. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to visit work sites and attend meetings; strength and stamina to inspect various construction projects and facilities; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
