Email Me Similar Jobs Email Me This Job The Farmland Assessment Analyst at Cache County Corp., is an entry-level Appraiser/Analyst role supporting fair, consistent Property Tax outcomes for Agriculture and Farm parcels. Working onsite in Logan, UT, you'll apply the Farmland Assessment Act (FAA) and State Tax Commission standards to classify Farmland and document well-supported appraisal decisions. This position is designed to help you launch your career through hands-on learning with a supportive team.
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage greenbelt applications and determine eligibility for agricultural use
  • Classify land per State Tax Commission guidelines (Irrigated I-IV, Dryland, Graze I-IV) using soil type, topography, and water availability
  • Apply agricultural production metrics, including evaluating crop yields and calculating Animal Unit Months (AUMs)
  • Review and audit agricultural financial records (e.g., sales receipts) to confirm a reasonable expectation of profit
  • Read and interpret legal Property descriptions, plat maps, and deeds
  • Perform accurate Tax calculations, including complex rollback taxes up to five years
  • Conduct audits and physical site inspections in varied weather and uneven terrain Required skills:

Daily Work Snapshot Your day begins onsite in Logan with greenbelt application review, confirming eligibility, updating Property records, and organizing follow-up questions. You'll then move into Appraisal analysis: comparing maps and legal descriptions, checking land classifications, and preparing clear notes that support consistent Property Tax outcomes for Agriculture, Farm, and Farmland parcels. Some days include an audit check of sales receipts or other Personal Property documentation. When field work is scheduled, you'll travel to parcels, observe land use indicators, take photos, and document conditions in real time. Back at the office, you'll finalize determinations, track next steps, and learn from experienced Appraiser teammates through guided review and feedback.
