County of Clarke, Full-time Building Official:

Clarke County, Virginia is accepting applications for a full-time Building Official. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance & Inspections, this position manages the day-to-day operations of the Building Inspections Office. The expected starting salary for this position is $65,000-$80,000. This position is perfect for the Building professional who wants to serve in a leadership role while still getting to go out and do inspections in the field. The Building Inspections Office is comprised of one full-time permit technician and two part-time inspectors/plan reviewers, in addition to the Building Official. In-house staff and a contracted vendor complete plans review. The Office performs all residential and commercial building inspections in the County except those where a third party is allowed. The Building Official also serves as the County Erosion & Sediment Control Administrator and performs E&S inspections as needed. State certifications in Building Inspections and E&S will be required to be obtained within the prescribed time periods provided by the State.
