Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented NSPIRE Inspector to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections of residential properties to ensure compliance with the latest housing quality standards and regulations. Your expertise will help maintain safe, healthy, and well-managed communities by assessing property conditions, identifying violations, and collaborating with property owners and management teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on housing quality and resident well-being through thorough evaluations and proactive problem-solving. Duties Perform detailed inspections of residential properties using the NSPIRE (National Standard for Property Inspection and Review) framework to evaluate physical conditions and compliance with housing regulations. Identify violations related to LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), Section 8, Fair Housing regulations, and other relevant standards. Document inspection findings accurately using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite, ensuring clear communication of issues requiring attention. Engage in negotiation with landlords and property managers to develop action plans for addressing deficiencies and ensuring timely remediation. Apply crisis intervention skills when encountering urgent safety or health concerns during inspections, coordinating with appropriate authorities as needed. Educate property owners on landlord-tenant law, fair housing practices, and Section 8 program requirements to promote compliance and fair treatment. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage property improvements and foster positive relationships with stakeholders involved in housing management. Conduct follow-up inspections to verify corrective actions have been completed effectively. Stay current on updates to housing regulations, including Fair Housing laws, Section 8 policies, and local ordinances, to ensure inspections are aligned with legal standards. Collaborate with social workers or addiction counselors when residents' circumstances require additional support or crisis management. Qualifications Proven experience in property management, housing inspections, or related fields. Strong knowledge of LIHTC programs, Section 8 housing policies, Fair Housing regulations, and landlord-tenant law. Familiarity with inspection tools and software including Yardi or OneSite is highly desirable. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with the ability to handle sensitive situations involving residents or landlords effectively. Demonstrated capability in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques to address urgent safety concerns compassionately. Ability to analyze property conditions critically while maintaining attention to detail during inspections.
