Los Angeles | Onsite | Operations, Risk & Underwriting Intern 3
Month Full Time Internship Pay:
$25 Hourly. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable. Knight Insurance Company is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and versatile Intern to join our team in Los Angeles. This unique role bridges the gap between multiple critical departments, offering hands-on exposure to Operations, Risk Management, and Underwriting. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can seamlessly transition from deep data analysis to customer-facing support. You will play a pivotal role in cross-departmental projects aimed at streamlining business workflows, enhancing data accuracy, and maintaining our commitment to exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Process Streamlining:
Collaborating across departments to identify inefficiencies, map workflows, and implement solutions that improve day-to-day operational speed and accuracy.
Risk & Data Analytics:
Assisting the Risk team by gathering, organizing, and analyzing datasets to help track performance metrics, identify trends, and support portfolio evaluations.
Underwriting Support:
Providing analytical and administrative assistance to the underwriting team where needed, including verifying account information, preparing file documentation, and evaluating basic risk characteristics.
Customer Service Excellence:
Assisting with policyholder and agent inquiries, ensuring high-quality communication, and helping resolve service requests professionally and efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree (preferred fields include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Risk Management, or a related discipline).
Work Environment:
Ability to work in-office at our Los Angeles location.
Analytical Thinking:
Strong problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity for data, trend analysis, and objective reasoning.
Software Proficiency:
Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills like VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and logical formulas are a major plus). Familiarity with basic SQL or data visualization tools is a bonus but not required.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the comfort level necessary to interact with internal team leaders and external customers alike.
Adaptability:
A fast learner who thrives when managing multiple tasks across different functional teams.
