Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer Intern opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Job Title:
Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer Intern Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and analytical Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer Intern to support operational safety, hazard identification, and risk reduction initiatives within a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in process safety management, risk assessment methodologies, incident prevention, and environmental health & safety programs. The intern will work alongside engineering and operations professionals to help improve process reliability, reduce operational risk, and support compliance with industry safety standards.Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) including: HAZOP What-If analyses Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Risk ranking and mitigation reviews Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and operational risk programs Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis activities Help identify and evaluate: Process hazards, Equipment risks, Chemical handling risks, Operational vulnerabilitiesReview:
Standard operating procedures (SOPs), Risk assessment documentation, Emergency response procedures, Safety protocols Conduct field safety inspections and risk assessments Assist with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and chemical inventory reviews Analyze operational and safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiativesQualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in: Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear Engineering Environmental Health & Safety Environmental Engineering Risk Management Related technical discipline Strong interest in: Process safety, Industrial risk analysis, Hazard mitigation, Manufacturing operations, Safety systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication and technical writing abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments Preferred Coursework or Experience Coursework or experience in any of the following is preferred: Process safety management Risk analysis Hazardous materials management Environmental compliance Process operations Chemistry or chemical handling Safety engineering principlesOther Job Requirements:
