Primary Purpose:
This position will support students, teachers, and administrators through creating systems and processes that support our at-risk population by preparing for, scheduling & conducting meetings, mentoring and supporting students who are at-risk and develop academic support programs for at-risk students. The At-Risk Specialist is responsible for the coordination of efforts to students who are at-risk of failing coursework, assessments and struggling with attendance. Qualifications (Education/Certification/Experience): High School diploma, GED or higher; Paraprofessional Highly Qualified Certificate, or a valid Texas Paraprofessional Certificate (can obtain after hire).
Major Responsibilities:
1. Organize, develop and manage procedures for implementing and monitoring services for at-risk students on assigned campus. 2. Facilitate and participate in at-risk student support meetings (attendance, parent conferences, home visits, data meetings, student discipline meetings, first PSST meetings, MTSS) as assigned. 3. Review and analyze student transcripts to identify and support students at-risk. 4. Monitor and support students on attendance contracts (classroom visits, on-campus conferences, make-up hours updates and individualized support). 5. Identify students in need of additional support academically based on previous and current course performance. (Grade monitoring). 6. Meet with students and parents/guardians to encourage and ensure attendance to campus after school academic support program, as appropriate. 7. Implement intervention plans and other support services to accelerate learning via Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction. 8. Organize, develop, and manage plans for implementation of campus after school academic support after school program. 9. Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community. 10. Attend and participate in professional learning activities related to supporting and mentoring at-risk students. 11. Follow the Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and state/federal regulations. 12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Spanish speaker preferred Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures related to at-risk students Skill in analyzing data and using data tools Skill in working with various forms of equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, calculators, projectors, and printers Skill in working with computer tools, including but not limited to email, internet, word processing, and spreadsheets Skill in communicating clearly and effectively with others in print and in conversation Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments; managing and coordinating meetings Skill in being flexible and adaptable, willing to work with a variety of personalities in a variety of settings Skill in effectively organizing materials in a variety of settings; self-monitoring and time management Skill in initiating tasks in order to problem solve within a team environment Skill in self-monitoring and time management
Supervisory Responsibilities:
