Job Description

Credit Risk Supervisor Job description
FUNCTIONS
  • Promote the Credit Union and its services by providing knowledgeable assistance to members or referring them to appropriate departments.
  • Supervise Member Solutions staff, including training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
  • Monitor and report on key credit and collection areas, including: o Consumer loan delinquencies, charge-offs, and recoveries o Loan modifications, impairments, and restructurings o Bankruptcies, reaffirmations, and repayment plans o Collateral monitoring and consumer repossessions
  • Represent the Credit Union in court and manage consumer legal collection matters, including claims, judgments, levies, and garnishments.
  • Oversee and participates in the daily consumer collection activities, including: o Processing and tracking of repossessions, garnishments, attachments, and returned items o Managing delinquent accounts and developing repayment solutions with members
  • Handle escalated collection accounts, including complex consumer delinquencies and charge doff loans.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of all collection efforts and member interactions.
  • Prepare and process bankruptcy documentation such as Proofs of Claim, Reaffirmation Agreements, and Relief from Stay requests.
  • Manage relationships with third-party attorneys handling consumer collection matters, ensuring accurate communication, documentation, and legal compliance.
  • Ensure accurate reporting to credit bureaus, handle member disputes, and process AUDs/ACDVs/Blocked Notifications in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and ensure staff completion of required training and ongoing professional development.
  • Assist with department planning, process improvement initiatives, and compliance audits to enhance operational efficiency and member satisfaction.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws governing consumer collections.
  • Provide back-up to the Servicing Supervisor for the collection and management of loan portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Credit Risk Manager or VP of Risk and Compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in business, finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Experience:
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a financial institution or related environment, with direct exposure to consumer lending and collections.
  • Knowledge of loan servicing, risk analysis, as well as collections systems is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a high degree of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with computer applications to include servicing, transactional, or collection systems.
  • Initiative-driven, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality member service.
Working Conditions:
Requires consistent attention to detail and adherence to deadlines. May involve extended or irregular hours and periodic travel for training or inspections. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds as necessary.
