Job Description
The Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the casino resort's risk management program. This role identifies, evaluates, and mitigates risks that could impact the casino's Gaming Operations, Hotel, Pool, Spa, and related business units. The Risk Manager focuses on enterprise risk, insurance programs, claims oversight, contract risk review, and regulatory compliance related to risk exposure. They also partner with the Safety Manager to align operational risks with the organization's broader risk strategy. Develops and maintains the organization's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. Conducts regular risk assessments for the casino, Hotel, Pool, Spa, and supporting operations (e.g., Valet, EVS, Facilities, F&B). Evaluates emerging risks such as fraud, cybersecurity, guest liability, financial exposure, regulatory changes, and operational disruptions. Leads the organizational risk committee and presents risk findings to executive leadership. Manages end-to-end insurance programs including, but not limited to, property, liability, cyber, EPLI, and auto coverage. Monitors and liaisons with third-party claims administrators, insurance company representative/consultants and other providers of risk management services. Oversees claims intake, investigation, documentation, and settlement strategy, and acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies and individuals. Analyzes claims trends to identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies (e.g., training, contractual changes, additional coverages). Reviews contracts, leases, service agreements, and vendor relationships for risk exposure. Collaborates with legal counsel when needed on high-risk or complex agreements. Monitors and ensures compliance with regulations affecting risk exposure, including gaming regulations, hospitality regulations, ADA requirements, environmental requirements, and data protection standards. Develops internal risk-related policies and ensures Team Members understand compliance expectations. Plans and coordinates risk control and loss prevention activities. Works with Internal Audit to address control weaknesses and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Develops and maintains business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis response plans for the property. Partners with Safety Manager to exchange information on incidents, trends, and risk exposures, and incorporate safety-related data into broader risk analyses. Coordinates with the Safety Manager during incident response, ensuring alignment with business continuity and safety protocols. Collaborates closely with interdepartmental stakeholders, including Security and Human Resources, on matters related to Workers' Compensation, Safety, and Light Duty/Return‑to‑Work programs to support coordinated risk management efforts. Maintains risk registers, dashboards, and key risk indicators (KRIs). Prepares executive-level reports and presents risk findings to senior leadership, tribal council, or board as required. Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect and compassion toward all customers, vendors, co-workers, and the public. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. 5 years' experience in gaming/hospitality risk management with 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Strong understanding of insurance programs, claims processes, and risk financing. Familiarity with gaming operations and hospitality industry regulations. Ability to build relationships across departments and influence decision-making. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Strong background and experience with audit methodologies and techniques.
