In this position, you will set the strategic vision for how the world's largest franchisee manages enterprise risk, simultaneously protecting and advancing the interests of a rapidly growing company that operates more than 2,900 restaurants and gyms, generates more than $5B in revenue, and, through its subsidiaries, employs more than 75,000 employees across 44 states, Australia, and New Zealand. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in maturing risk frameworks, building efficiencies, and inspiring risk awareness and ownership at all levels. The position may be based in our Independence, OH or Dallas, TX Support Center.
Responsibilities :
As Sr. Director, Risk Management, you will execute against four core areas: General Liability & Workers' Compensation Claim Program Management Lead a team of dedicated managers and analysts responsible for handling general liability, auto liability, workers' compensation, and property loss claims for the organization. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for responsible, compassionate, and cost-effective claim handling in accordance with company values and casualty best practice across 44 states. Oversee and manage the company's Third-Party Administrator relationships in connection with outsourced claims, ensuring adherence to service level agreements. In partnership with Safety, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Human Resources, guide internal team to identify adverse trends, mitigate exposures, and educate stakeholders. Insurance Procurement and Financial Risk Management Secure companywide insurance, (e.g., Casualty, Property, Cyber, Fiduciary, etc.) through cultivating productive broker and carrier relationships to ensure best-in-class coverage and rates for the company. Leads annual renewals for all Risk and Liability insurance coverages in partnership with senior leadership and broker partners; work with Finance department to establish and monitor actuarial reserves. Stewardship of the Organization's Risk Management Strategy Set annual goals in light of the organization's business objectives and risk program performance, a plan for achieving those goals, and drive execution of same. Manage budget and spend through financial goal setting and cost savings/value creation initiatives; report on financial performance, highlighting risks, opportunities and recommendations for improvement. Prepare periodic reports to General Counsel and senior leadership addressing claim program trends, accountability for progress against goals, opportunities for improvement, and impact on organization. Translate complex risk data into practical, actionable plans for internal business clients. Regularly meet with Legal and Compliance senior leadership to analyze and address trends identified in claims, litigation, and daily practice. Actively support the organization's operational risk awareness and ownership by making mitigation measures accessible, actionable, and rewarding. Explore opportunities to leverage technology, introduce process improvements and automate systems to maximize output and value to the company. Leadership and Team Development Actively mentor and develop direct reports and team members to meet and exceed the expectations of the business in risk and claims management. Develop succession plans and growth plans to ensure business continuity, leadership depth, and the team's ability to meet changing needs of the business. Manage recruiting and onboarding for open roles. Continuously evaluate resourcing/staffing to identify solutions to deliver exceptional service and superior results at unmatched value. As the organization grows, evaluate and build business cases for appropriate resourcing and structuring of the department. Requirements The Sr. Director, Risk Management must be a results-driven leader with exemplary planning and organizational skills and a high degree of detail orientation. The successful candidate is dynamic, proactive, and decisive, and adapts well to and initiates positive change.
Additional requirements include:
7-10+ years of experience of leadership in risk management. Bachelor's or another relevant degree required. Previous experience in large, self-insured programs; self-administered litigated claims experience strongly preferred. Competency in Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, Property, and other risk programs. Experience in a retail, restaurant, or CPG business with distributed footprint; experience in and passion for fast-paced, dynamic, and growing companies. Financial acumen for insurance procurement, budgeting, and all aspects of risk management including actuarial analysis, allocation of risk programs, claim trend analysis and management reporting. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
