Team Overview:
The Equity Trading Team at Edward Jones is responsible for delivering value to our clients through the management and execution of the firm's equity orders (Stocks & ETFs). The team strives to provide timely, quality executions by seeking liquidity, price improvement, and minimizing market impact. The team partners with our branch teams and other internal stakeholders as a resource to develop unique, personalized trading strategies based on specific client needs. The team is also responsible for managing the regulatory risk to the firm by ensuring compliance with all industry regulations Additionally, the team is responsible for supporting firm and division business objectives while advancing the equity business through innovation, data analytics, and operational efficiencies.
What You Will Do:
As a Trader I in the Equity Trading Department, expectations are that you would have a strong and growing interest in capital markets, strong risk management skills and be able to make routine order management decisions with minimal oversight. Attention to detail is a must as your decisions directly impact clients and carry significant regulatory, financial, and reputational risk. If you have the desire and drive to trade on a fast-paced agency desk in alignment with the strategic direction of the firm, this may be the ideal opportunity for you.
Responsibilities include:
Timely and accurately manage the firm's retail order flow (Stocks/ETFs) in an agency capacity across multiple account types, including Brokerage, Investment Advisory, Trust, and Managed Accounts. Identify and source liquidity across a spectrum of liquidity profiles and market conditions to manage both individual security and portfolio level transactions in efforts to ensure best execution on all orders. Proficient application of internal and external trading systems and related tools Proficient application of capital markets analytics, trading strategies, and risk management techniques. Evaluate and analyze data by applying insights to trading related decisions via coding or reporting tools. Deliver client service excellence for all branch-related inquiries, enhancing the branch experience when possible. Strive for operational excellence to scale the quantity and quality of workflows via creative enhancements and automation. Build the depth and breadth of internal and external networks, including dealer relationships.
What Experience You Need:
B.A./B.S.
degree in business, economics, finance, or quantitative related field 18+ months of financial service experience required Series 7 and 63/66 required; additional desk specific licenses are needed within 6 months of hire (52, 55/57, CSI) Successful demonstration of problem-solving techniques with a proficient level of authority complexity, and risk Strong math skills; accuracy is important Strong communication and time management skills
