Job Summary Job Description Key Accountabilities Function Management:
- Lead the effort to build and maintain congestion models fostering a culture of excellence.
- Constant improvement of models by incorporating latest market information that impacts the grid
- Consolidate the outputs of models and benchmark them to real live observations to ensure models are responding rationally.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Communicate complex analytical insights in a clear and actionable manner to Transmission Trading leadership.
- Support cross-functional projects that enhance the overall trading and transmission optimization capabilities of
VST Market Expertise:
- Stay current with market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the energy trading sector.
- Provide expert insights and strategic recommendations based on market analysis and data-driven findings.
- Lead efforts to enhance the organization's understanding of market dynamics and their impact on trading strategies. Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
- Training in finance, economics, engineering, data science, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are highly desirable.
- 5+ of work experience in the energy trading sector with a strong background in market analytics
- Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively.
- Deep expertise in energy markets, including a strong familiarity with trading commodities and interpreting market, credit, and operational risks across multiple commodities and assets. Demonstrated commitment to staying updated with market trends and developments.
- 5+ years of work experience using production cost models (e.
UPLAN, PROMOD, PSO
) in grids such as ERCOT, PJM, Eastern Interconnect, CAISO, etc. Key Metrics- Creation of Congestion Point of View insights that provide VST with an edge in decision making
- Translation of market news, grid changes, into actual impacts to the energy, congestion and marginal losses components of LMP for the VST fleet
- Appropriate benchmark of models to ensure they respond according to reality
- Effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, leading to improved decision-making and strategy alignment.
