Job Description

We are currently working with a leading investment bank looking to add a Rates Desk Quant at the VP level to support its front-office interest rate derivatives trading team. This role sits directly on the desk and offers strong exposure to traders, desk strategy, and day-to-day P&L drivers. Both Linear and Non-linear focused candidates are encouraged to apply! You'll work closely with sales and trading to build and enhance pricing and risk tools, while also contributing to broader desk initiatives around trading strategy and performance. The position combines technical development with real-time problem solving, giving you visibility into how rates products are traded and managed. This is a high-impact role with direct alignment to the trading desk, offering a mix of technical ownership and exposure to trading strategy and revenue generation.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and improve pricing, risk, and analytics tools for the rates desk Partner with traders to support decision-making, optimize strategies, and identify revenue opportunities Analyze P&L drivers, investigate risk discrepancies, and handle complex pricing questions Contribute to the development and refinement of trading strategies and desk-level analytics Ensure stability and accuracy of daily processes and systems used by the desk Work on ad hoc projects in a fast-moving trading environment, often with tight timelines Collaborate with global quant teams on models, tools, and best practices Ideal background: 4+ years of experience working with interest rate derivatives (e.g., swaps, swaptions, cap/floors, futures) Prior experience supporting a front-office trading team within an investment bank Strong understanding of rates markets and how products are priced and risk-managed Solid programming skills in both Python AND C++ Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science) Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a high-pressure environment Strong communication skills and ability to engage directly with traders
