Overview The Direct & Indirect Tax Reporting Officer is responsible for managing the company's direct and indirect tax compliance, tax reporting, tax data warehouse, and tax investment data processes. This role supports federal, state, and local tax filings, oversees tax systems and data integrity, prepares elements of the tax provision, and ensures accurate reporting of tax impacts related to investment activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise, data management capability, and experience working across multiple tax disciplines. Responsibilities Direct Tax Reporting & Compliance Prepare and support federal and state corporate income tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions. Compile and maintain tax workpapers, documentation, and schedules supporting direct tax filings. Assist with federal and state tax audits by gathering data, preparing responses, and supporting audit defense. Maintain and update tax positions, attributes, and adjustments for direct tax reporting. Indirect Tax Compliance Prepare and file property tax, sales and use tax, business & occupation (B&O) tax, and other indirect tax returns. Maintain accurate workpapers and documentation supporting filings and audit readiness. Support indirect tax audits, including data extraction, workpaper preparation, and correspondence. Monitor state and local tax law changes and assess impacts to indirect tax compliance. Tax Investment Data, Process & Reporting Oversee the collection, validation, and reporting of tax‑related investment data, including tax basis, timing differences, and investment-level attributes. Develop and maintain processes for tracking tax impacts of investment activity (e.g., income, losses, distributions, dispositions). Partner with Investment, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure tax data requirements are met for forecasting, compliance, and provision. Prepare recurring and ad‑hoc tax reports summarizing investment-related tax positions and impacts. Ensure controls, documentation, and data governance standards are maintained for tax investment workflows. Tax Data Warehouse Management Manage the tax data warehouse to ensure accurate data ingestion, transformation, mapping, and integration with tax systems. Maintain data quality standards and implement ongoing improvements to enhance data reliability. Coordinate with IT and data governance teams to maintain architecture and strengthen system controls. Create and maintain documentation relating to data structures, workflows, mapping logic, and operational procedures. Tax Systems & Technology Oversee tax compliance and reporting systems to ensure accurate configuration and data processing. Collaborate with IT and external vendors to resolve issues, implement upgrades, and optimize system functionality. Drive automation and workflow improvements to enhance efficiency across tax processes. Tax Provision, Modeling & Forecasting Assist in preparing quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations, including analysis of temporary and permanent differences. Build and maintain tax models to support tax adjustments, cash tax forecasts, scenario analysis, and long‑range planning. Provide tax analytics and insights to support budgeting, planning, and strategic decision‑making. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Data Analytics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in direct tax, indirect tax, or corporate tax reporting. Understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local tax rules (direct and indirect). CPA, CMI, or Master of Taxation. Experience with ONESOURCE, Vertex, Vena, Avalara, SAP, Oracle, Alteryx, Snowflake, or similar tools. Familiarity with ASC 740 tax accounting and financial reporting processes. Skills & Competencies Experience working with tax technology platforms and large datasets. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent communication, organization, and project‑management skills. Accuracy, documentation and deadline management Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time. Compensation The base pay range for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $130,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
