Job Description
Tax SeniorPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our public accounting team and deliver high-quality tax compliance and advisory services to individual, partnership, trust, and corporate clients. The Tax Senior will manage engagements, mentor staff, review tax returns, and ensure timely, accurate filings while identifying tax planning opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and file individual, partnership, trust, and corporate tax returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
Manage multiple tax engagements from planning through delivery, prioritizing work to meet client deadlines and firm expectations.
Conduct technical tax research and apply findings to client situations; communicate implications and recommendations to managers and clients.
Review workpapers and tax returns prepared by senior staff and associates, providing constructive feedback and ensuring quality control.
Identify tax planning opportunities and recommend strategies to minimize tax liabilities and improve client outcomes.
Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation, resolve questions, and provide clear explanations of tax positions and obligations.
Assist with training, mentoring, and performance reviews for junior staff; delegate tasks and monitor progress to develop team capabilities.
Utilize tax software (including Lacerte) and firm systems to prepare returns and maintain accurate client records.
Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership on tax topics.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters degree in Taxation or related advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in public accountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license is highly desirable.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with proven Tax expertise.
Demonstrated experience in public accounting environments, including managing client engagements and mentoring staff.
Proficiency with tax preparation software; experience with Lacerte is a plus.
Comfortable working with trust and partnership tax matters; experience preparing trust and partnership returns preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong client-facing and relationship management abilities.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
