Mid-Level Tax Specialist (CPA or Enrolled Agent) 35 Years Experience

Stephens Tax Services is a family-owned firm serving Sonoma County since 1983. We prepare around 2,500 returns annually for individuals and small businesses. We're a steady, team-oriented office that works hard during tax season and maintains a more balanced pace the rest of the year. We're hiring a CPA or Enrolled Agent with 3-5 years of tax preparation experience. This is a client-facing role with real responsibility—preparing and reviewing returns, managing your own clients, and helping keep workflow moving during busy season.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S) Communicate directly with clients (phone, email, in person) Manage a portfolio of clients and meet deadlines Assist with IRS and state notices Identify basic tax planning opportunities

Qualifications:

CPA or Enrolled Agent 3-5 years of tax prep experience Strong knowledge of individual and small business returns Comfortable working directly with clients Organized and dependable

Schedule:

Full-time, year-round In-office during tax season, with some flexibility outside of peak periods This role is designed to grow into a senior position with increased responsibility for reviewing returns and managing client relationships.

Pay:

$90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
