Job Description

Senior Tax Associate Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo, LLC - Orlando, Florida (In-Office) About This Opportunity This role is designed for an experienced tax professional who enjoys high-quality technical work, client interaction, and tax planning—but is looking for a more sustainable pace than traditional public accounting. The candidate will focus on reviewing and helping prepare tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and related entities, including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and 1041, while also playing a key role in tax planning and client support throughout the year. We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and a professional, respectful approach to working with both colleagues and clients. Our team takes every third Friday or Monday off which averages to a 37.5-hour work week. There are moderate seasonal workload increases during two tax periods. Our workflow and staffing model are intentionally designed to avoid the long hours typical in the profession. The tax team plays an important role in that mission by supporting both compliance and planning needs and working closely with advisors and other team members to serve clients well. What You'll Do Review federal and state tax returns for individuals and related entities, including Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and 1041 Identify technical issues, missing information, inconsistencies, and areas of tax risk Provide clear, constructive review notes and guidance to preparers Exercise sound professional judgment in evaluating filing positions and documentation Prepare more complex individual and entity tax returns as needed Work closely with advisors and other team members to support tax planning strategies Prepare and review tax projections to help clients evaluate opportunities and anticipate liabilities Respond to client tax questions and provide clear, practical guidance Help clients and team members understand the tax impact of financial decisions Assist with tax research and resolve technical questions Serve as a resource to less experienced preparers Help reinforce review standards, documentation expectations, and best practices Contribute to process improvements that increase quality and efficiency Communicate professionally and collaboratively with colleagues and clients Review and sign returns, as appropriate based on credentials and firm policies What We're Looking For 4-6 years of relevant public accounting tax experience Active CPA or EA credential required Strong experience with Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and 1041 Experience with tax planning, projections, and client advisory work Solid understanding of federal and multi-state tax compliance Strong analytical thinking and professional judgment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to explain tax matters clearly to both colleagues and clients Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple deadlines Comfortable working in an in-office, team-oriented environment Preferred Qualifications Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses Experience reviewing work and providing constructive feedback Interest in improving workflows and contributing to team development Experience with ProSeries or similar tax software Why this role matters This role will help expand the depth and capacity of our tax team by adding a strong technical professional who can review returns, prepare more complex work, support tax planning, and serve as a trusted resource for client questions. The right candidate will play an important part in maintaining quality, supporting staff development, and helping us deliver thoughtful, reliable tax advice and service throughout the year. Compensation, Benefits, and Work Environment We believe strong professionals should be well compensated, supported, and able to build a sustainable career over the long term. Compensation Structure Competitive base salary aligned with experience and role expectations ranging from $95,000 to $110,000. Individual performance award beginning at 3% of base salary after the first anniversary, increasing over time to as much as 10% by year seven Team Award bonus eligibility begins after one year of employment; while not guaranteed, it has typically ranged from 5% to 8% of salary, paid in February based on prior year firm performance Retirement Benefits 401(k) with 100% employer match on the first 6% of salary Health Insurance Support $498 per month during the first 24 months Increasing to $833 per month beginning in month 25 Structured to cover most or all the premium for a single high-deductible, HSA-eligible health plan Additional Insurance Benefits Company-paid life insurance Company-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance Paid Time Off Paid holidays, vacation, and sick time Firm-wide closure from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day Additional time off benefits, including every third Friday off.
