We are hiring multiple Customer Service Specialist Trainees (Revenue Tax Specialist Trainees) for our Customer Service Bureau and for our Local Government Services Bureau in Springfield, IL for a tentative start date of 9/16/2026. The position in the Customer Service Bureau is responsible for attending training classes on the various tax types and tax laws affecting: Individual Income Tax; Withholding Income Tax; Sales and Use Tax; Business Income Tax and training on GenTax and MyTax Illinois software. The Local Government Services Bureau position is responsible for learning to process correspondence, review annexations, verify tax locations and analyzing remittance reports to verify the accuracy of records prior to the Division allocating funds to local governments. Attention to detail is highly desirable. While working with the department staff, taxpayers, local governments, and businesses on the telephone, in person, and through email, you will also learn interpersonal skills and acquire excellent customer service skills.
