Job Description
Tax SeniorPosition Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior to join our growing tax team. The Tax Senior will lead and manage complex tax engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws while delivering practical tax planning and advisory services. This role combines technical tax preparation and research with client relationship management and team leadership. The successful candidate will be a CPA with strong analytical skills and a commitment to high-quality work and exceptional client service.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage tax engagements from planning through delivery, including preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns; identify and implement tax efficiencies and planning opportunities.
Conduct technical tax research on federal, state, and local tax issues and communicate clear recommendations to clients and partners.
Serve as primary client contact for assigned engagements; build and maintain strong client relationships and communicate status, risks, and opportunities proactively.
Supervise, mentor, and train junior tax staff; review workpapers and ensure accuracy and timely completion of deliverables.
Coordinate with engagement teams and partners to manage deadlines, staffing, and workflow throughout busy seasons.
Represent clients before tax authorities as needed and assist with tax notices, audits, and examinations.
Contribute to process improvements, documentation standards, and firm technical resources to enhance efficiency and quality.
Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and cross-sell opportunities.
QualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Tax or Accounting preferred.3+ years of public accounting tax experience, with demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing returns.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical research skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting directly with clients and tax authorities.
Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with practice management tools.
Nice to have: hands-on experience with Individual Tax, Partnership Tax, Corporate Tax matters and Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is a plus.
