Job Description

Mission Statement The Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers was created by Act 274 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session. The Commission is charged with the administration and collection of sales and use tax with respect to remote sellers. We promote uniformity and simplicity in compliance and we adhere to the Code of Government Ethics while providing leadership and professionalism in our duties to those we represent and serve. Overview The Compliance Revenue Tax Specialist reviews amended returns, processes refunds, resolves delinquencies, and supports voluntary disclosure cases to ensure accurate tax compliance for remote sellers. Key Competencies Analytical review skills, strong communication with taxpayers, and ability to manage compliance issues. What Makes It Unique This role operates in a specialized and growing area of remote seller tax administration, offering meaningful impact in a modern, multi-jurisdictional compliance environment. Six semester hours in accounting, business, economics, finance, management, information systems management, or quantitative methods plus one of the following: Four years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR An advanced degree or Juris Doctorate; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties:
The Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers was created and established for the administration and collection of the sales and use tax imposed by the state and political subdivisions with respect to remote sales. Reviews/audits amended returns and supporting documentation and decides on a recommendation of approval or denial in accordance with applicable laws and Commission adopted guidance. Responsible for system testing related to returns, payments, refunds, credits, debits, etc Communicates and corresponds with taxpayers regarding delinquencies and assessments Calculates penalties and interest as necessary and makes appropriate adjustments to taxpayers' accounts. Calculates interest and makes appropriate adjustments to taxpayers' accounts.
