We serve individuals, families, and closely-held business owners who require sophisticated strategies to manage, preserve, and grow their wealth. Our purpose is to enrich the lives of our clients, colleagues, and communities through thoughtful advice, integrity, and service. To learn more, please visit www.ctwealth.com. Why This Role Matters We are seeking an experienced Tax Advisor to join our team. This role is central to helping clients retain more of what they earn and build more efficient, durable wealth structures over time, with a primary focus on tax planning and tax mitigation strategies for high-net-worth families. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical tax knowledge, paired with the ability to translate complex strategies into practical, coordinated planning alongside investment and broader wealth decisions. This individual will play a key role in elevating our firm's tax capabilities, both in client work and internal education. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong client relationships in partnership with lead wealth advisors, serving as a trusted resource on tax strategy and planning. Provide ongoing insight as tax laws evolve and as clients' financial lives grow in complexity. Collaborate closely with clients' CPAs and other advisors to ensure cohesive and well-executed planning. Tax Planning & Strategy (Primary Focus) Lead the development and implementation of advanced tax strategies for high-net-worth individuals, with a focus on minimizing income taxes and improving after-tax outcomes. Advise on tax-efficient portfolio construction, asset location, and withdrawal strategies. Identify and execute opportunities related to capital gains management, loss harvesting, concentrated positions, business income planning, and liquidity events. Provide guidance on charitable strategies, including donor-advised funds, gifting of appreciated assets, and other tax-advantaged structures. Support clients through major financial events such as business sales, transitions, and retirement with a clear focus on tax optimization. Proactively model and forecast tax scenarios to inform better decision-making across the client's full balance sheet. Support Planning Areas Provide general guidance on estate and wealth transfer considerations as they relate to tax efficiency, working in coordination with clients' legal advisors. Ensure tax strategies are aligned with broader planning objectives, without serving as the primary designer of legal estate structures. Team Collaboration Serve as a resource to the broader CapTrust team, helping to deepen the firm's tax planning capabilities. Work closely with wealth advisors to integrate tax-aware strategies into client portfolios and planning engagements. Lead internal education efforts to elevate the team's understanding of tax mitigation strategies and their practical application. Remain current on evolving tax laws and regulatory developments, bringing timely insights to both clients and colleagues. Qualifications & Attributes Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field. CPA required; Master's degree in Taxation or CFP preferred. Significant experience in tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and families Demonstrated ability to design and implement sophisticated tax mitigation strategies Experience coordinating with external CPAs and integrating planning into broader wealth strategies Deep knowledge of federal and state income tax planning Familiarity with investment-related tax strategies and planning techniques Experience with financial planning and tax modeling tools Clear communicator who can translate complex tax concepts into practical advice Collaborative mindset with a desire to contribute to a team-oriented environment Strong judgment, attention to detail, and professional integrity Genuine interest in helping clients make thoughtful, informed financial decisions Why You'll Enjoy Working Here Purpose-driven work grounded in thoughtful advice, integrity, and service. Integrated partnership with wealth advisors and clients' CPAs to deliver coordinated, tax-aware decisions. Opportunity to elevate firmwide tax capabilities through advanced planning, timely insights, and internal education. We are looking for thoughtful, capable professionals who want real responsibility and room to grow. If this opportunity aligns with your interests, please apply.
