Job Description

Tax SeniorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior to lead tax compliance and planning engagements for individuals, high net worth clients, partnerships and corporations. The Tax Senior will prepare and review federal and state tax returns (including 1040, 1120, 1065 and 990), perform tax research and planning, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff to ensure timely, accurate delivery and compliance with all applicable tax regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review individual and fiduciary tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules) for HNWI and other clients.

Prepare and review partnership (Form 1065), corporate (Form 1120, 1120S) and exempt organization (Form 990) tax returns.

Lead tax compliance engagements from planning through final delivery, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness.

Perform tax research and provide practical tax planning recommendations for individuals, partnerships and corporations.

Manage relationships with high net worth individuals (HNWI), business owners and other stakeholders; serve as primary client contact on assigned engagements.

Supervise, mentor and review work of junior staff; provide on-the-job training in tax prep and review processes.

Coordinate with bookkeeping and accounting teams, including use of QuickBooks and Lacerte, to reconcile tax information and streamline preparation.

Prepare and review workpapers, perform quality control and finalize returns for partner review and signature.

Respond to client and taxing authority inquiries, and assist with notices, audits and other tax controversies.

Monitor changes in tax law and implement process updates to maintain compliance and improve efficiency.

Manage engagement budgets, timelines and deliverables to meet firm standards and client expectations.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master of Taxation or CPA pathway a plus.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred; active license or eligible to sit for exams.

Minimum 47 years of progressive tax experience, including prior experience as a Tax Senior or senior tax preparer.

Strong technical experience preparing and reviewing 1040, 1120/1120S, 1065 and 990 returns.

Experience working with high net worth individuals (HNWI) and complex individual tax situations.

Proficiency with tax software (Lacerte preferred), QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Demonstrated ability to prepare and review tax returns, perform tax research, and present tax planning solutions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; client-facing experience and professional demeanor.

Strong leadership and coaching skills with experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.

High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
