Associate Wealth Advisor - Tax Focus Stevens Foster Financial Advisors - 5.0 Bloomington, MN Job Details Full-time 21 hours ago Benefits Continuing education credits Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description About Stevens Foster Stevens Foster is an established, independent RIA firm with over 38 years of experience serving corporate executives and high-net-worth individuals in the Twin Cities. We provide integrated financial planning, investment management, and tax-forward advisory services — and have built a lasting reputation through long-term client relationships and a consistently high standard of care. Our advisory model is team-based. Advisors focus on guiding clients and managing relationships — not selling, prospecting, or building individual books of business. Many of our clients engage us first through tax work, and we build long-term advisory relationships from there. The Opportunity We are looking for someone with a tax background who is ready to grow into a client-facing advisory role. This is a newly structured position that combines the foundational responsibilities of our Associate Client Account Manager role with meaningful tax advisory work. It is built for a candidate who has spent time in tax preparation or advisory work and wants to apply that expertise within a broader wealth management context — working directly with clients, not just behind the scenes. This is not a back-office role and it is not a sales role. It is a development path into a client-facing, tax-aware advisory career within a structured, team-based firm. You will work alongside experienced advisors, participate in client meetings, and serve as a subject matter resource for tax-related questions. Over time, you will take on greater ownership of client relationships within our integrated planning model. What You'll Do Your responsibilities will span two areas: advisory development and tax expertise. Client Relationship & Advisory Support Participate in client meetings alongside advisors to observe and contribute to planning and advisory discussions Prepare meeting materials, agendas, and summaries; document client goals and follow-up items in the firm's CRM Communicate client needs clearly to Planning, Tax, and Investment teams, and coordinate deliverables across departments Gradually take on greater responsibility for client communication and relationship management over time Tax Advisory & Analysis Review and analyze client tax returns (individual, fiduciary, trust, gift, and entity) with advisors to identify planning opportunities Develop tax projections and estimated payment schedules for clients with complex income situations Serve as an internal tax resource — supporting advisors and client managers on tax-related questions and planning considerations Connect tax concepts to broader wealth strategy (investment taxation, retirement distributions, equity compensation, estate planning) Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes and communicate their impact to the advisory team Account Operations & Team Coordination Support account paperwork, money movement, transfers, and DocuSign coordination Partner with Client Service Associates and Operations to ensure client requests are completed accurately and efficiently Maintain organized client records and assist with gathering financial documents What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 3+ years of direct experience preparing or advising on individual, trust, or entity tax returns Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Strong working knowledge of individual income taxation, deductions, and planning strategies Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional presence in client-facing settings High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities during peak cycles Preferred Qualifications Strongly preferred: CPA designation, or active progress toward completion Experience working in a wealth management, RIA, or financial planning environment Exposure to fiduciary, trust, estate, or gift taxation Familiarity with investment taxation and tax-efficient planning strategies Interest in or progress toward the CFP® designation or Series 65 Comfort with tax software such as Lacerte, and research tools such as RIA Checkpoint or BNA This role is a strong fit for a tax accountant or tax advisor who wants to move toward client-facing advisory work — someone who is energized by client relationships and wants to apply their tax expertise within a broader wealth management context. Benefits Competitive base salary and annual discretionary bonus — no commissions or sales quotas Hybrid work environment after the initial training period Generous paid time off, paid holidays, and volunteer time Safe Harbor 401(k) with employer match Medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage Minnesota Paid Family & Medical Leave (private plan) Professional development and continuing education reimbursement Discounted advisory services for eligible employees Why This Role Many financial services roles follow one of two paths: transactional client service work with limited career growth, or sales-focused advisory roles that require you to build your own book of business. This role offers a different path. At Stevens Foster, you will work with an established client base of executives and high-net-worth individuals, learn alongside experienced advisors and planners, and develop into a client relationship manager within a collaborative team model — without relying on sales or business development. Tax fluency is a differentiator for top advisors in this space. Our clients are executives, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals with complex tax situations. The ability to connect tax strategy to financial planning and investment decisions is central to the value we deliver — and it's what makes this role distinct.
