We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior to lead tax compliance and advisory work for a diversified client base, including individuals, partnerships, and corporations. The Tax Senior will prepare and review tax returns, manage client relationships particularly high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and provide practical tax planning and research. This role balances technical tax expertise with team leadership and project management to ensure accurate, timely filings and strategic tax outcomes. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships (Form 1065), S-corporations (Form 1120-S) and C-corporations (Form 1120) ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Lead and manage multiple client engagements through the tax season and year-round, acting as primary contact for HNWI and corporate clients.
Perform detailed tax research on complex issues (partnership allocations, corporate transactions, basis calculations, entity conversions) and implement appropriate tax positions.
Review and mentor junior staff, delegate work, provide training on tax return preparation, review processes and software tools.
Coordinate tax planning opportunities and offer proactive tax strategies to minimize liabilities while complying with current tax law.
Oversee the preparation of supporting schedules, workpapers and documentation for tax returns and audits; ensure timely filing and payment of tax obligations.
Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients, partners and internal stakeholders, preparing client deliverables and executive summaries.
Collaborate with accounting and advisory teams on transaction-related tax due diligence, M&A structuring, and entity formation/selection issues.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and international tax developments and update internal policies and client guidance as needed.
Manage workflow to meet deadlines, review engagement budgets, and contribute to business development by identifying cross-sell opportunities. Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required or in-progress; active CPA license preferred.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master of Taxation or MBA is a plus.
3+ years of public accounting tax experience; prior experience as a Tax Senior or comparable role preferred.
Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing individual returns, partnership returns, S-corp and C-corp tax returns (corporate returns).
Strong understanding of partnership tax rules, corporate tax matters, basis and allocation issues, and tax planning for HNWI (high-net-worth individuals).
Proven ability to prepare (Prepare) and review complex tax filings and provide tax research-backed recommendations.
Excellent technical skills with tax research tools and tax software; proficiency in Excel and common tax platforms.
Strong communication skills for client-facing interactions and internal leadership, including the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
Detail-oriented with solid project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
Experience mentoring staff and leading review processes; demonstrated leadership in resolving technical and client service issues.
