Job Description

Description We are looking for a tax and accounting specialist to join a growing public accounting firm serving clients from a fully remote environment. This position combines hands-on tax preparation, client bookkeeping support, and internal accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical work with trusted client partnership. Based in Tacoma, Washington, the role suits a proactive individual who wants to contribute to a digital-first firm and grow alongside an expanding practice.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review individual and business tax filings with attention to accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Manage bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of clients, including maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end reporting needs.
  • Provide accounting support for the firm's own financial operations, helping maintain organized internal books and reliable financial data.
  • Work directly with clients to answer accounting and tax questions, identify needs, and deliver practical guidance that supports their financial goals.
  • Use accounting and tax platforms such as QuickBooks, Excel, and related tax software to complete engagements efficiently and maintain documentation.
  • Assist clients with a broad range of services that may include business accounting, personal tax matters, and advisory support related to financial planning considerations.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of a remote-first practice by building strong client relationships and supporting high-quality service delivery.
  • Participate in occasional in-person meetings in Tacoma, Washington as needed for firm collaboration or planning activities.
  • Support evolving practice needs, including process improvements and technology-based workflow management within the firm's digital operating model.
The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000. Benefits available with this position include medical, dental and vision; life and disability insurances; participation in the company's 401(k) plan with XX match and 15 days of paid vacation, 5 days of paid sick leave and 10 paid holidays per calendar year. Requirements
  • At least 4 to 5 years of experience in public accounting with a strong focus on tax and client accounting services.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent credential is preferred; candidates who are eligible and actively interested in pursuing licensure will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns, including more complex business tax engagements.
  • Strong bookkeeping background with the ability to manage full-cycle accounting tasks for client accounts.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel, along with experience using tax software such as Lacerte, Drake, CCH ProSystem fx, or similar tools.
  • Ability to manage both internal accounting responsibilities and client-facing service work in a remote setting.
  • Strong communication skills and a client-centered approach, with the ability to build trust and support long-term relationships.
  • Self-motivated mindset with an interest in contributing to a growing firm and taking on increased responsibility over time.
