Job Description

Tax Accountant Position We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our 12-person CPA firm, where you'll thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a collaborative company culture. This role is perfect for a dedicated professional passionate about delivering high-quality tax services to individuals and businesses. You'll work closely with our team to ensure all tax returns are prepared accurately and filed on time, while proactively identifying and resolving potential tax issues to safeguard our clients' financial interests. The ideal candidate brings expertise in individual and business taxation, with a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction in a supportive small-office setting. Requirements
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, specifically in individual and business tax preparation and compliance.
  • Experience representing taxpayers before the IRS is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with Drake Tax Software, Canopy Tax, and QuickBooks Online is a plus but not required.
  • Salary commensurate with experience, offering competitive compensation based on your qualifications and expertise. Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough research on federal, state, and local tax codes to ensure compliance and optimize client tax strategies.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to integrate financial data into tax preparation processes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Manage tax compliance for a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients, including preparation and review of returns.
  • Perform financial forecasting and analysis using tools such as spreadsheets, databases, and specialized software to support tax planning.
  • Handle tax implications related to mergers, acquisitions, and other complex business transactions, advising on strategies to minimize liabilities.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and apply them to client situations, contributing to the firm's overall growth and efficiency. Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail in tax-related matters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office suite; ability to adapt to new tools quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications or degrees are advantageous.
