Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide clerical and customer service support for the City's revenue collection functions. Job duties consist of related clerical and customer service duties. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of City operations. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.
The following duties are normal for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Employees frequently lift light and occasionally heavy objects and distinguishes between shades of color. J ob duties are typically performed in an office. J ob duties require the ability to deal with and relate to people beyond giving and receiving instructions. J ob duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear. J ob candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress. J ob duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

FINANCIAL DUTIES
(55%) R eceives and processes sales tax deposits. A ccepts deposits from various City departments. A ccepts payments for special sanitation pick-ups. B alances and prepares deposits.BUSINESS LICENSE DUTIES
(20%) P rocesses new and renewed business licenses, including new alcohol license applications. A ssists Revenue Officer in collecting past due business licenses. A ssists Revenue Officer in looking into social media outlets for new businesses operating within the City.CLERICAL AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DUTIES
(15%) A nswers a multi-line telephone; provides information and assistance. C ommunicates with customers and co-workers via phone, written communication, email, and in person. S cans, copies, faxes, and emails documents. P repares end-of-the-month reports.OTHER RELATED DUTIES
(10%) R eceives and distributes mail. A ssists Revenue Officer in collecting past due sales tax. P erforms other duties as needed or assigned. H igh School Diploma/GED. T wo (2) years' of experience in administrative support with an emphasis on finance, accounting, tax/revenue processing, and customer service. P ossession of or the ability to readily obtain a specialty certification through the Alabama Municipal Revenues Officers Association.
