Job Description
Overview Our state-of-the-art Ophthalmology practice has a vacancy for a medical collector. This role will work on-site in our Chula Vista location and provide billing support to the corporate office as well as other satellite clinics. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment and can multi-task all while keeping a superb professional demeanor. The role will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager. What you'll do Responsibilities for medical collector/ Must be able to speak Spanish for this role! Manage the self-pay work queue in Allscripts, following established best practices for patient follow up Place outbound calls and accept inbound calls from patients to review self-pay balances. Educate patients on the various payment options available to keep their account in good standing. Establish payment plans, process credit card payments, set up Care Credit accounts. Complete weekly reporting of cash collections to RCM Manager and CFO. Perform bi-weekly and monthly review of aged accounts with RCM Manager and CFO, focusing on high balances and overdue accounts. When patients become unresponsive to collection efforts, return these bad debt accounts to the automated collections process for transition to an outside collection agency. Cross train and perform other RCM tasks as assigned based on business needs.
