POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to manage the resources of the Business Tax Audit Section to achieve and maintain voluntarypliance via the audit of taxpayers for the following taxing areas: Sales and Use Tax, Admissions and Amusement Tax, Corporate Ie Tax; Withholding Tax, Bay Restoration Fee; Unclaimed Property, Cannabis, 911 and E911 and Universal Service Fee (USF).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Experience:
Seven years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, the practice of tax law, or general management. Five years of this experience must have involved supervising professional accountants or auditors; giving legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax attorney; or must have been in a responsible administrative or management capacity sufficient to demonstrate capabilities of performing responsible staff work.
NOTES:
Applicants may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Possession of a Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for two years of the required general experience. Applicants may substitute graduate education in an academic field related to the required experience from an accredited college or university at the rate of one year of education for one year of the required general experience. •For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at naces.org/members.html.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP). Familiarity with Revenue Premier Enterprise(RPE), TaxMaster, CAMS software applications. Advanced knowledge of Maryland Sales and Use Tax, and Maryland Corporate Ie Tax statues and regulations.
