ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
(This position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.) Maintains water and sewer utility billing records. Initiates necessary action regarding billing, payments, adjustments, service problems, disconnects and reconnects of utility service, collection of delinquent accounts, and balance monthly to general ledger. Assigns and processes accounts receivables based on documentation, invoices and/or statements. Verifies proper approval of invoices and general ledger account assignments. Reconciles accounts receivables to the general ledger. Assists the public in person, on the phone or via email. Answers routine questions which may include but are not limited to general visitor information, utility billing, accounts receivable, parking/municipal court. Assists with audit preparation and may be required to work closely with the auditor during audit field work. Maintains transient room tax forms and payments and prepares accurate monthly reports. Assists in the annual preparation of budget books. Obtains mail at Post Office, distributes to appropriate departments, posts outgoing mail, delivers mail to Post Office and tracks departmental postage charges. Reads, understands and applies ordinances, laws, policies and procedures applicable to the scope of work. Prepares accurate and timely reports. Cashiers and maintains records of cash receipts, balances receipts to deposits, completes bank and cash account reconciliation. Maintains an inventory of office supplies and orders when needed. Completes special projects and research as directed by the Finance Director or his/her designee. Provides assistance to other staff as workload and staffing levels dictate. Assists in maintaining parking/municipal court records in accordance with statues, codes, regulations and policies. Processes court citations accurately and in a timely manner and reconciles court revenue to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Serves on a variety of employee committees as assigned. Maintains paper and electronic files as directed for accounting and record keeping purposes.
