JOB The Department of Revenue's (DOR) Compliance Division is looking for an instinctive individual to fill a Revenue Agent 1 (RA1) vacancy on the Out of State team in Tumwater, WA. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
As a Revenue Agent, you will use your communication skills, ability to negotiate, and different investigative methods to resolve revenue collection activities on delinquent accounts. In support of the agency's mission, you will also provide advice, instruction, and training to a diverse customer base. Here are some other responsibilities associated with the job: Educates and advises taxpayers/representatives of the liabilities/responsibilities over the telephone and other correspondence methods. Investigates and locates delinquent taxpayers using database searches, the internet, and third-party resources. Utilizes and updates case histories and taxpayer information on appropriate agency computer systems. Participates in taxpayer assistance through daily educational efforts, including guidance on completing tax returns and referral to other agencies when appropriate. Performing database, Internet and third-party resources searches. Applies, comprehends, and assimilates complex state tax laws (RCW) and rules (WAC), tax interpretation letters, orders of determination and departmental policies and procedures to resolve questions, concerns, and objections.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
To be considered for a Revenue Agent position, you must have complied with Washington state tax laws. The Department of Revenue is committed to ensuring all employees perform in a manner warranting the highest degree of public confidence and demonstrate the highest level of ethics and integrity. During the hiring process, the Compliance Division will review the Department of Revenue records to ensure you have complied with Washington state tax laws. The Human Resources Division may use referrals from this recruitment to help fill future similar vacancies for six months. For current Department of Revenue employees and union members of the WPEA, current promotion rules will apply if selected. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Department of Revenue and the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA).
