Job Description

This role requires candidates who are currently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, and C2C arrangements are not accepted. This role is onsite in Ontario, CA. Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead tax strategy, compliance, planning, and advisory functions. This role is responsible for overseeing complex tax matters, managing tax teams, reviewing high-level tax work, advising leadership or clients, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and multi-state tax regulations. The ideal candidate has deep technical tax expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to serve as a senior tax advisor across complex business, individual, partnership, corporate, and/or trust tax matters. Key Responsibilities Lead tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for individuals, businesses, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and/or estates Oversee preparation and review of complex federal, state, local, and multi-state tax returns Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize risk and identify tax-saving opportunities Serve as a senior advisor to clients, executives, ownership groups, or internal leadership Manage, mentor, and develop tax managers, seniors, and staff accountants Review complex tax positions, technical research, and client deliverables Monitor changes in tax laws and advise on business impact Oversee tax notices, audits, appeals, and correspondence with tax authorities Support business development, client retention, and cross-functional advisory initiatives Improve tax department processes, workflows, quality control, and deadlines Partner with accounting, finance, legal, and executive teams on tax-sensitive decisions Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field CPA license strongly preferred; CPA, EA, MST, or JD/LLM in Tax may be considered depending on the role 8+ years of progressive tax experience Prior experience managing tax teams, client relationships, or department-level tax functions Strong knowledge of federal and California tax regulations Experience with complex individual, corporate, partnership, S-corp, C-corp, trust, estate, or multi-state tax matters Strong technical research, communication, leadership, and client-service skills Proficiency with tax software, Microsoft Excel, and tax research tools Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or related field Public accounting experience at the senior manager, director, or partner-track level Experience with high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, real estate, manufacturing, professional services, or multi-entity structures Experience leading tax department strategy, staff development, and client advisory services Business development or client expansion experience
