We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning and advisory services for a diverse client base including high net worth individuals, trusts and estates, passthrough entities and corporations. The Tax Manager will oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, manage complex tax engagements (including SALT, international, and M&A-related work), mentor staff, and develop tax strategies that minimize client risk and exposure while supporting business objectives. Key Responsibilities
Manage and review preparation of individual, fiduciary and entity tax returns including Form 1040, 1041, 706, 709, 1120, 1120S, 1065 and associated state filings
Provide advanced tax planning and structuring for high net worth individuals (HNW/HNWI), family offices, trusts, estates and closely-held businesses
Oversee tax compliance and reporting for passthrough entities, S corporations, C corporations, partnerships and nonprofit organizations
Lead SALT research and planning including nexus, apportionment and multistate filings
Coordinate international tax, transfer pricing, FATCA/CRS/FBAR considerations and cross-border structuring issues
Perform tax provision (ASC 740) calculations, tax accounting and related financial reporting
Support M&A tax due diligence, transaction structuring and post-transaction integration analysis
Deliver tax controversy and audit support, responding to notices and coordinating with authorities as needed
Supervise, coach and mentor senior tax staff and managers; review workpapers, tax research and client deliverables
Leverage tax research to provide practical, defensible positions and documentation for credits and incentives such as R D tax credits
Implement and optimize tax technology and workflows (ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, Oracle) and use advanced Excel, VBA, Alteryx/Power Query and SQL to streamline processes
Ensure quality control, engagement profitability and timely delivery of client services
Build and maintain client relationships; communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders
Stay current on evolving tax law, BEPS/OECD guidelines, treaty analysis and emerging industry trends relevant to client needs
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced degree (JD or LLM) or equivalent strongly preferred
Active CPA or EA license required; JD/LLM preferred for trust & estate and complex planning work
Minimum 6-10 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or professional services with exposure to high net worth individuals, trusts, estates and passthrough entities
Demonstrated experience with individual and entity tax returns (1040, 1041, 706, 709, 1120, 1120S, 1065) and fiduciary/gift tax matters
Strong knowledge of SALT, international tax, transfer pricing, tax provision (ASC 740), tax controversy and M&A tax issues
Practical experience with tax and compliance software (ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax) and ERP integration (SAP, Oracle)
Advanced Excel skills and experience with VBA; familiarity with Alteryx, Power Query and SQL a plus
Proven ability to supervise teams, manage client engagements, and deliver high-quality, timely work
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of advising high net worth clients and coordinating with wealth advisors and legal counsel
High ethical standards, attention to detail, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
