Full Job Description Description:
We are seeking a Tax Manager to join the tax department of a growing Registered Investment Adviser serving high-net-worth clients. This role will focus on tax planning, income tax preparation and review, projections, and advisor support. The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong technical tax skills, experience reviewing complex returns, and the judgment to identify tax issues within a broader wealth management context.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns, primarily for high-net-worth individuals. Review related trust, partnership, and S corporation returns as needed. Review source documents, workpapers, and return inputs for accuracy and completeness. Identify tax issues, planning opportunities, and items requiring client or advisor follow-up. Coordinate with financial advisors on tax matters affecting the client's broader financial plan. Respond to client and advisor tax questions throughout the year. Maintain strong documentation and consistent tax department processes. Oversee, train, and mentor junior staff as the department grows.
Required Qualifications:
Active CPA license required. Experience preparing and reviewing income tax returns. Knowledge of federal and state income tax law. Strong organizational, communication, and client-service skills. Ability to explain tax concepts clearly to advisors and clients. Sound professional judgment and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in taxation preferred. Experience with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients. Experience in an RIA, family office, or private client tax practice. Familiarity with financial planning and broader wealth management concepts. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a client-focused advisory environment. This role is best suited for someone who values high-quality tax work, clear documentation, and the integration of tax compliance, tax planning, and wealth management advice.
