Tax Manager Fargo, ND Full-TimeOn-Site$100,000 - $130,000 /yr Posted May 11, 2026 Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking a experienced Tax Manager to lead our tax compliance and planning efforts. The Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of federal, STATE, local, and international tax returns, manage a small team of tax professionals, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders. This role combines technical tax expertise, supervisory responsibility, and a focus on delivering accurate, timely filings while identifying planning opportunities and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, including workflow assignment, training, performance reviews, and career development. Oversee tax return Prep and preparation for corporate, partnership, and individual filings across Federal, STATE, and local jurisdictions. Review and quality-check tax returns and related workpapers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency with firm standards. Coordinate and lead international tax compliance and reporting, including cross-border planning, treaty analysis, and transfer pricing support where applicable. Conduct tax research and provide clear recommendations on Federal, STATE, and local tax issues, as well as changes in tax law and regulations. Develop and implement tax planning strategies for clients to optimize tax positions, cash flow, and long-term outcomes. Serve as a client-facing leader: manage relationships, address inquiries, present results, and coordinate with client accounting and finance teams. Support and coordinate tax audits, notices, and controversy matters with taxing authorities and outside advisors. Improve departmental processes and leverage tax technology to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Ensure timely filing and payment of tax obligations, adherence to deadlines, and maintenance of proper documentation and internal controls. Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required or strong progress toward licensure; previous experience as a Tax Manager or senior tax professional. 5+ years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated expertise in Federal, STATE, local, and International tax compliance and planning. Proven experience in tax Prep and preparation and in performing detailed tax Review of returns and workpapers. Strong technical knowledge of tax law, regulations, and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Experience managing teams, delegating work, and mentoring staff in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfort interacting with clients, auditors, and senior management. Proficiency with tax software and tools (e.g., CCH, UltraTax/ProSystem, GoSystem, or comparable platforms) and advanced Excel skills. High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and commitment to meeting deadlines and quality standards. Prior experience with international tax matters, treaty analysis, and cross-border transactions preferred. Ability to handle multiple engagements simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
