Tax Director, Real Estate Location:
Orange County, CA•hybrid (50% in-office)
Salary:
$170K•260K base (DOE) Overview A growing public accounting firm is seeking a Tax Director to lead real estate-focused engagements. This role combines technical tax expertise, client advisory, team leadership, and business development. Key Responsibilities Review complex tax returns (partnerships, individuals, S-Corps, C-Corps) and supporting workpapers Advise clients on tax implications of business and personal transactions Research complex tax issues (federal, state, and international) and prepare technical memoranda Lead multiple client engagements, ensuring quality, timelines, and profitability Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and client relationships Mentor and develop team members; provide technical guidance and training Stay current on tax law changes and share insights internally and with clients Respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, audits, and notices Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and support new business efforts Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver comprehensive client solutions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Tax or related field preferred Active CPA license 7+ years of public accounting tax experience 3+ years in a leadership/managerial role Strong technical tax knowledge and research skills Proven ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships Experience with tax software and engagement management tools (ex, CCH Axcess or similar) Benefits Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, and vision) Bonuses 401(k) with profit sharing Flexible work arrangements (hybrid schedule) Generous paid time off, including sick leave 11 paid company holidays Parental leave Employee wellness programs
