As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Tax Manager in our San Diego office to play a key role in delivering high-quality client service, mentoring staff, and supporting firm growth. Position Overview The Tax Manager will lead client engagements, review complex tax returns, and provide strategic tax guidance. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and working collaboratively. Key Responsibilities Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations Serve as the primary client contact, providing proactive tax planning and advisory services Identify tax-saving strategies and planning opportunities Apply strong critical thinking to resolve complex tax and client issues Mentor, train, and develop tax staff to support technical and professional growth Oversee staff work, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery Collaborate with bookkeeping and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial data Assist with tax notices, audits, and regulatory inquiries Stay current on evolving tax laws, regulations, and major tax legislation Support year-end planning and compliance initiatives Contribute to process improvements and firm growth Qualifications 9+ years of tax experience , in public accounting or a tax advisory firm CPA, EA, or JD required MST or JD with LLM in Taxation strongly preferred Strong, progressive knowledge of tax law for both compliance and planning Proven ability to interpret and apply tax law to real-world client situations Demonstrated commitment to staying current with tax law changes and major tax acts Highly adaptable with the ability to succeed in a fast-growing environment Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Team player with a collaborative, positive attitude Experience managing client relationships and leading engagements Proficiency in tax and accounting software, including tax reserach software Heavy experience in flow-through entities Preferred Experience Experience in a client-facing advisory role Proven success training and mentoring staff Ability to manage multiple client engagements under strict deadlines Background working with small to mid-sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals Experience with complex tax structures and multi-entity planning Experience working in a regional or national firm with established processes, procedures and high accountability client service environment What We Offer Competitive salary + performance bonuses Flexible work environment (hybrid/remote options available) Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and firm holidays Retirement plan with employer contribution Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities A collaborative, supportive culture where your ideas are valued Why Join Us?
