Role:
We are a small, dynamic CPA firm seeking a Tax Manager to join our team and take ownership of client relationships while playing a key role in tax compliance, planning, and firm operations. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys variety—working directly with clients, reviewing and preparing returns, mentoring staff, and contributing to the firm's long-term growth. Our firm values flexibility, approachability, and high-quality client service. You will manage your own client base, collaborate closely with partners, and have exposure to all facets of public accounting, with future leadership or ownership opportunities for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax & Compliance Prepare and review individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041) Manage tax compliance calendars, extensions, and deadlines Perform tax research and apply federal and state tax law to resolve complex issues Respond to IRS and state notices and support audits as needed Tax Planning & Advisory Proactively assist clients with tax planning, projections, and strategy development Advise clients on entity structure, business decisions, and long-term tax implications Serve as a trusted advisor, helping clients understand their financial and tax picture Accounting & Financial Oversight Review and analyze financial statements Oversee or assist with accounting and bookkeeping services for select clients Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting Client & Firm Leadership Manage and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication Mentor and review work of staff and interns; provide training and guidance Identify opportunities to improve processes, leverage technology, and enhance client service Participate in firm growth efforts, including client development and new service offerings
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting CPA license 3-8+ years of experience in public accounting with a strong tax background Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns Strong understanding of federal and state tax law Fluency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Experience with professional tax software (CCH experience a plus) Preferred Prior experience managing or reviewing staff work Client advisory and tax planning experience Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team Job Insights Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA license 3-8+ years of experience in public accounting with a strong tax background Client advisory and tax planning experience Experience in Prepare and review individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041) Exp. in MS office and professional tax software like CCH also exp. in assisting with accounting and bookkeeping services for select clients
Pay:
$115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
