Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description This is a remote position. About The Firm We work with accounting firm clients across the United States, many of whom are actively looking to hire for these roles. Our approach stands apart from much of today's private equity-driven accounting landscape. We believe the profession has become too focused on profits at the expense of people and culture. Instead, we partner with firms that value technical excellence, fairness, and respect for their professionals. Clear expectations, sustainable workloads, and a culture of integrity define how these firms operate-and how, together, we aim to lead the next generation of accounting firms. About the Role The Tax Manager I and II are responsible for delivering high-quality, technically sound tax work across a diverse client base. This position is ideal for professionals who value precision, consistency, and meaningful work in a firm that prioritizes fairness and clarity over long hours and bureaucracy. The Tax Manager II will manage easy-complexity engagements including review, signing, and client relationship management, while supporting more senior team members on medium-complexity projects. The Tax Manager II will manage easy and medium-complexity engagements including review, signing, and client relationship management, while supporting more senior team members on hard-complexity projects. It's a role built for tax professionals who take pride in technical excellence and want to grow within a healthy, well-run practice. We have strong systems, software, and support staff in place, so administrative and preparatory tasks are not part of this role. We value team players who can help when needed, but are committed to keeping your time focused on work that matches your level and skill set. Responsibilities Handle the review, signing, and client relationship management for engagements of appropriate complexity, while supporting more senior team members on more complex projects. Provide limited client relationship management tied to assigned engagements, balancing technical accuracy with clear and effective communication. Act as a technical resource for junior staff on foundational tax concepts while maintaining an active workload of assigned returns. Contribute to firm integration and process-improvement initiatives as new practices are onboarded. Familiarity with a wide range of return types, with primary exposure to 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065. Periodic involvement with 1041, 990s, financial statements, and miscellaneous filings such as 1031 exchanges and FBAR as needed. Requirements CPA or EA designation preferred. 4-15 years of public accounting experience with strong technical tax skills. Proficiency in individual, partnership, and S corporation tax compliance. High attention to detail and ability to manage a range of return complexities. Excellent communication and organizational skills, especially in a remote environment.
