Job Description

Job Description Tax Supervisor - Houston (Hybrid) | $110k-$120k 5 Years Public Accounting Experience Required + CPA/EA Preferred This firm sits in that sweet spot between small and mid-size. Structured enough to support your development, but still flexible enough that you're not boxed into a narrow role or lost in layers of hierarchy. You'll get hybrid working (2 days a week, chosen by you) and a busy season that typically peaks around 50-55 hours for a short stretch in spring and autumn, rather than the long, drawn-out grind you might be used to elsewhere. In return, you'll get real exposure early, working across a broad mix of industries and having client face time that, in larger firms, often doesn't come until Manager level. That kind of early responsibility really compounds over the long term.
Benefits are genuinely solid too:
4 weeks' PTO from day one, plus federal holidays, summer Fridays, and an extended break over Thanksgiving. On top of that there's a strong bonus structure, healthcare coverage, and a wider benefits package that reflects a firm that actually invests in its people. The structure here is intentionally flat, which means progression isn't slowed down by bottlenecks or rigid promotion cycles. If you're doing the work and developing at the right pace, you won't be waiting around to step up. Day to day, this is a generalist role working across a varied client base, including HNW individuals, nonprofits, and a range of business entities. You'll be handling a mix of S-Corps and individual returns, with a stronger emphasis on review work, while also supporting and developing junior staff. Client contact is a real part of the job here, so being comfortable communicating clearly and confidently with clients is important. If you're looking for a change of pace, this could be a great fit. Not ready to update your resume? That's completely fine. This time of year is usually when people start taking stock, what's working, what isn't, and whether the next move needs to look different. If you want a clearer picture before doing anything formal, call Laura on 512-647-2214 . She'll talk you through how the role actually operates day to day, how the firm is run behind the scenes, and whether it genuinely lines up with what you're looking for next. No pressure, just clarity. Laura works closely with CPAs across Houston, helping them helping them cut through the noise and focus on roles that fit their experience and long-term direction.
