Position Summary Schwan Financial Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CPA Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for individuals and businesses. This role is responsible for managing client relationships, reviewing complex tax returns, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mentoring staff. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise, leadership skills, and a client-first mindset. What You'll Do Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and C-corporations Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a trusted tax advisor Provide strategic tax planning guidance and identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiency Oversee tax planning and consulting engagements to help minimize client tax liabilities Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state tax laws and regulations Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on tax-related matters Maintain strict client confidentiality and professional standards Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff and senior accountants Review and improve internal tax processes for efficiency and accuracy Research complex tax issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations Coordinate with auditors, regulatory agencies, and external parties as needed Monitor changes in tax legislation and communicate impacts to clients and team members Support business development initiatives through networking and proposal assistance Required Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (Master's preferred) 5+ years of public accounting experience with a strong focus on tax Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations Proven leadership and team management experience Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in tax and accounting software such as ProSystem fx Compensation, Benefits & More Compensation $110,000 - 145,000 annually Bonus opportunities available Benefits Paid time off, sick days, and vacation time Health insurance Dental insurance Retirement benefits Long-term disability insurance Tuition reimbursement Extended Illness benefit for short-term disabilities Summer schedule with additional paid time off beyond PTO accruals Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Extended hours during tax season (60+ hours expected) Job Type Full-time Location Aberdeen, South Dakota
