Tax Manager Henderson, TX Full-TimeOn-Site$90,000 - $135,000 /yr Posted May 12, 2026 Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance and planning efforts for a diverse portfolio of clients and entities. The Tax Manager will own the preparation, review and delivery of complex federal, state and local tax returns, provide technical tax guidance, manage client relationships, and supervise a team of tax professionals. The objective is to ensure accurate, timely compliance while identifying tax-saving opportunities and improving tax department processes. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, SCorporations, CCorporations, partnerships, nonprofits, and other business entities. Oversee and review complex tax engagements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards and deadlines. Supervise, mentor and develop tax staff: assign work, review deliverables, provide coaching, and conduct performance feedback. Provide tax planning, research and technical guidance to clients and internal teams; prepare tax memos and recommendations for client strategies. Serve as primary client contact on tax matters; build and maintain strong client relationships and manage expectations during busy season and throughout the year. Coordinate response to tax notices, audits and inquiries from tax authorities; assist with audit defense and documentation. Implement and improve tax processes, checklists and workflows to increase efficiency, quality and scalability of the tax function. Manage project budgets, staffing and timelines for engagements; ensure work is completed on time and within budget. Stay current on changes to tax laws and professional standards and communicate implications to staff and clients. Collaborate with other service lines (e.g., advisory, accounting) to deliver integrated client solutions. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters degree in Tax or equivalent a plus. Minimum of 5+ years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated success in tax preparation and tax management.
Required:
hands-on experience with tax preparation for Individuals and business entities and proven ability to manage tax engagements (Tax Preparation, Tax Manager). Proven experience preparing and reviewing returns for CCorporations, SCorporations, Partnerships and Nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred. Experience in public accounting and/or a CPA license is highly desirable. Strong technical knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws, tax research skills and ability to communicate tax positions clearly. Demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff, with solid project and time management skills. Proficiency with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, CCH Axcess) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent client-facing, verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Nice to have: CPA, Public Accounting experience, familiarity with SCorp, Individual, CCorp, Business, Partnership and Nonprofit tax issues, and prior management experience.
