Job Description

Tax ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking a Tax Manager to lead and execute comprehensive tax compliance, provision, planning and controversy matters for a dynamic, growing organization. The Tax Manager will oversee federal, state, local and international tax obligations, drive tax accounting (ASC 740) and financial reporting activities, manage a small team and coordinate with external advisors and cross-functional stakeholders to optimize tax positions and controls.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead preparation, review and filing of federal, state, local and international tax returns and related tax compliance deliverables.

Own and manage the ASC 740 tax provision process and related tax accounting, including deferred tax accounting and fixed asset tax considerations.

Oversee indirect tax matters including sales and use tax, payroll tax and other transactional taxes; manage multistate tax filings and compliance.

Support and coordinate international tax matters, transfer pricing interactions, and entity-level tax planning for C-Corps, S-Corps, partnerships and other entity types.

Manage tax aspects of M&A activity, including due diligence, integration support and tax structuring recommendations.

Identify and execute tax planning opportunities, including R D tax credits, tax credits & incentives, and other tax-efficient structuring alternatives.

Lead tax controversy and audit matters, including IRS representation and responses to tax authority inquiries.

Develop and improve tax processes, internal controls and documentation to increase efficiency and reduce risk; implement tax process improvements and automation.

Supervise, mentor and review work of tax staff and external consultants; prioritize workloads and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs.

Perform tax research on complex technical issues and provide clear guidance to finance, accounting and business teams.

Operate and optimize tax and financial systems, including tax provision software and tax compliance platforms; partner with IT/ERP teams to leverage SAP, Oracle, NetSuite and other systems.

Prepare and present tax reporting, analysis and recommendations to senior management and external auditors.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced degree or Masters in Tax/Accounting a plus.

Licensed CPA, or equivalent; strong consideration given to candidates with relevant tax credentials.

Minimum 6-8 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax roles; experience managing tax teams and projects.

Demonstrated expertise in corporate tax, ASC 740 / tax provision, GAAP and familiarity with IFRS.Strong knowledge of state and local tax (SALT), multistate tax compliance, sales & use tax and payroll tax.

Experience with international tax matters and transfer pricing considerations.

Proven experience with tax research, tax filings, tax return preparation and tax structuring.

Familiarity with R D tax credits, tax credits & incentives, deferred tax accounting and fixed asset tax.

Experience managing tax controversy, IRS audits and partnership tax matters.

Hands-on experience with tax software (ONESOURCE, CorpTax, UltraTax/Ultratax, Lacerte, ProSystem fx) and tax provision software.

Experience integrating tax processes with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.

Advanced Excel skills with experience in VBA and working knowledge of SQL for data analysis.

Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills with a focus on process improvement and internal controls.

Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage competing priorities and direct external advisors as needed.
