Job Description Alaska Airlines is looking for a Managing Director, Tax to lead our tax strategy and compliance efforts. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company's business objectives. Oversee tax compliance and reporting for federal, state, and local taxes. Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions and transactions. Lead tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities. Prepare and review tax returns and related documentation. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Train and mentor tax department staff. Prepare and present tax-related information to senior management and the board of directors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred. 10+ years of experience in tax management, preferably in a corporate environment. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly and effectively. Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong leadership and team management skills.
