Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager - Public to join a client-focused accounting team. This position is responsible for leading tax engagements across individual and business returns while serving as a trusted advisor on planning, compliance, and tax strategy. The role also offers the opportunity to mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to process improvements that support an efficient and high-quality tax practice.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation and final review of federal and state tax filings for individuals, businesses, and related entities, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Manage a portfolio of client engagements by providing practical guidance on tax matters, planning opportunities, and projected liabilities throughout the year.
  • Analyze complex tax questions and conduct research to support sound conclusions, recommendations, and client advice.
  • Supervise and develop team members involved in return preparation, offering direction, feedback, and support to strengthen performance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with both clients and internal staff to encourage clear communication and dependable service.
  • Assess engagement performance and identify ways to improve workflow, consistency, and overall efficiency within the tax function.
  • Stay current on federal and state tax law developments through continuing education, technical resources, and industry training.
  • Meet with clients to understand their financial position, evaluate tax exposure, and recommend appropriate planning strategies.
  • Support additional tax-related projects and department needs as business priorities require.
