Job Description
Job DescriptionJob Description Management Business Solutions is seeking a Tax Preparer for its client, a small 17 year-old tax services and accounting firm located in Taylor, MI. This person will be responsible for preparing individual Federal / state / local tax returns, while working accurately and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role is built on scheduled face-to-face meetings with clients to prepare returns per their individual financial circumstances and needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare individual Federal, state and local tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Consistently manage and complete in timely manner a high-volume workload of tax returns during the tax season.
- Conduct in-person client appointments to gather and organize financial information, review documents, and complete required tax filings.
- Provide guidance on current and future tax-planning strategies to meet client needs.
- Identify potential tax credits and deductions to minimize client tax liabilities.
- Input, verify, and maintain tax-related data in the designated software system.
- Stay up-to-date with and ensure compliance with IRS regulations and tax law.
- Provide excellent customer service and clear explanations of return details to clients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 2+ years' experience in individual tax preparation required. CPA firm or accounting practice experience a plus. Proficiency with tax preparation software, including Thomson Reuters Tax Software. Experience with similar tools such as Drake Tax, Lacerte Tax, or CCH Axcess Suite is a plus.SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload during peak season, processing at least 15-20 returns per day in a normal workday. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Excellent communication and customer-service skills.- Experience maintaining confidentiality and security of client information and documents.
