Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, licensed Tax Consultant (LTC) to join our growing team in a full-time, year-round capacity. This is not a seasonal role — we are looking for a professional who wants to build lasting client relationships, contribute to a collaborative team, and grow with us. The ideal candidate brings strong tax expertise, solid bookkeeping skills, and the kind of professionalism and discretion that clients immediately trust. You will manage a portfolio of individual and business clients, prepare and review tax returns, and support clients through accurate and timely financial guidance. Payroll experience is a plus. QuickBooks proficiency is expected. A detail-oriented mindset and a strong sense of personal accountability are required. What You'll Do Tax Preparation & Compliance Prepare accurate individual and business tax returns across a diverse client portfolio Ensure full compliance with current federal and Oregon state tax regulations Stay current on tax law changes and proactively communicate relevant updates to clients Review financial records to identify discrepancies, deductions, and planning opportunities Maintain organized, compliant, and audit-ready client tax files Bookkeeping Perform monthly bookkeeping for multiple client accounts Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loans Develop and maintain chart of accounts; categorize expenses per best practices Ensure client books align with tax filings and financial statements Maintain accurate, up-to-date client portals and records Client Communication Serve as a knowledgeable and dependable point of contact for assigned clients Gather documentation, provide timely updates, and communicate financial positions clearly Handle sensitive client information with professionalism and strict confidentiality Payroll Support (Preferred, Not Required) Process client payroll and maintain accurate payroll records Assist with quarterly payroll reporting, deposits, and filings as needed Systems & Workflow Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks and internal workflow platforms Track deadlines and deliverables; contribute to process improvement Support development and maintenance of checklists, procedures, and digital filing systems Qualifications Required Active Licensed Tax Preparer or Tax Consultant credential (Oregon LTP or LTC) Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience Demonstrated experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft 365 Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all data entry and financial work Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple clients and concurrent deadlines independently High level of integrity, discretion, and professional conduct Preferred Payroll processing experience Familiarity with practice management software Experience with federal and Oregon state payroll tax filings Background in a multi-client or public accounting environment Professional Development & Support We invest in the people who join this team: Up to $750 annually for approved continuing education Licensing renewal costs covered by Taxnbooks Opportunities to grow into advanced tax advisory, payroll leadership, and client management based on interest and performance Who You Are A self-starter who takes full ownership of your work and your clients Detail-oriented — and able to see the broader financial picture when it counts Committed to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement Professional, discreet, and genuinely invested in client success Someone who wants to be part of a team that has been doing this well for 30 years — and is just getting started on the next chapter Obtain current license Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate: $32.00 - $38.00/hr, depending on experience Full-time, year-round position (32-40 hours per week) Monday - Friday, day shift, flexible scheduling available Health insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Paid holidays Professional development assistance Retirement plan (Simple IRA with 3% match) Position Requirements Work location: Onsite, Saint Helens, OR 97051 (required)
