Job Description
Stephen L. Wilson, CPA, PA is a small public accounting firm in Roxboro, NC with a strong emphasis on providing expert tax, accounting, and consulting services to a wide variety of small business and individual clients. We strive to maintain a supportive, friendly environment for our staff, while providing exceptional service to our clients. We have been growing consistently for many years (almost exclusively from referrals) and are looking for another experienced bookkeeping & payroll accountant to grow with our firm. Our ideal candidate is a well-rounded and experienced bookkeeping & payroll accountant that has some income tax experience who can join our team full-time and hit the ground running.
Responsibilities will include:
Performing bookkeeping and payroll functions for a book of clients. Timely preparing and filing payroll reports 941, 940, NCUI, NC-5, W-2/W-3, 1099s at required intervals (weekly/ bi-weekly / monthly / quarterly / annually) Accurately Post client transactions to a General Ledger/Chart of Accounts. Input & Process client payroll activity into Accounting CS & QuickBooks Troubleshooting payroll & bookkeeping errors/discrepancies through client communication. Quickbooks support and setup, and interactions with clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong computer skills, including experience with the following software: QuickBooks (QuickBooks Online experience a plus) Microsoft Word and Excel Tax preparation software (Thomson Reuters Creative Solutions & UltraTax experience a plus) Bookkeeping & Payroll Software (
Quickbooks, Creative Solutions Professional Suite:
Accounting CS, Fixed Assets CS, File Cabinet CS, Practice CS is a plus). Additional Information This position offers various benefits, including paid time off, health/disability/life insurance, and Simple IRA match up to 3%. Hours are 32-35 per week from April 15 - December 31, and 50-55 hrs from January 1 - April 15. These hours are somewhat flexible, with an option for partial remote work once onboarding and training are complete. Rate of pay is competitive, and will vary with experience.
