Hybrid & On-site - Quincy, MA Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Tax Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and a deep expertise in reviewing individual tax documents and preparing complex Form 1040 tax returns. Preparation:
Accurately prepare and assemble federal and state individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including all relevant schedules (Schedule A, B, C, D, E, etc.).
Document Review & Analysis:
Meticulously review client financial records, W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and brokerage statements to ensure completeness and accuracy before data entry.
Tax Compliance & Identification:
Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and liabilities to optimize client outcomes while strictly adhering to federal and state tax laws.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct self-reviews and peer reviews of tax returns to eliminate errors and ensure the highest standards of quality.
Client Communication:
Clarify tax data with clients or internal team members in a professional, clear, and empathetic manner.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience preparing and reviewing individual (1040) tax returns within a public accounting firm or tax preparation service.
Education/Certification:
• bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA license is a major plus , but proven hands-on expertise is highly valued. Must have a valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) or the ability to obtain one immediately. Proficiency with professional tax software and MS Office. Knowledge of LaCerte a plus. An analytical eye that spots discrepancies that others miss. Ability to explain complex tax concepts in plain English. What's in It for You?
